I agree, maybe I did not make the point intended as clearly as I intended.
For an advanced civilization, we are falling behind.
When the simple idea of sound infrastructure becomes a left-right issue, we have a big problem with stupid.
When the only real achievements we can boast about is with having the best military in the world, that isn't exactly going to save us from ourselves.
Unless that power turning against our people and our communities should become the trend.
And lately this has become the trend.
Military equipped police. And the enemy?
My concern is one day we look around at other countries, like China and Japan and Russia, and wonder what the hell happened?
When our climate is a total mess, roads are a total mess, bridges are a total mess, and our society relies still on dirty air polluting buses for mass transit, at what point does a country realize it just might be in big trouble?
Every modern civilization must keep up the investment, year after year.
No politics about it, unless the "STUPID" should get in the way.
There is no playing "catch-up" when a country as large as we should fall too far behind.
There is no possible way we could or would be able to afford playing catch-up.
There is no catching-up. You have to keep on top of this every single moment.
And we certainly have no time for STUPID.
And the stupid I refer to is this total lack of foresight by politicians.
Not only foresight, but their complete and total lack of concern.
No, I'm not picking on Obama. But he certainly does share some blame.
As president, he should push the threat of falling behind more so than he has.
He gives a good speech, when someone listens, which is rare.
Obama seems to have the desire for investing in the future, investing in infrastructure, investing in technologies for energy, etc etc. But words just won't make that happen.
And Obama, regardless of Obamacare, Obama has seen the benefit in having a healthy citizenship as a whole.
Thus his Obamacare, with hopes having more insured.
Not perfect, but the best possible for what we had to work with.
You have to read between the lines and realize we are in big trouble here.
Take the Keystone Pipeline. A perfect example.
This should be a no brainier. Building that pipeline.
Regardless of what jobs that might or might not create, or which country this really benefits most.
The scary thing with all of this that people are missing, is that we have to debate.
Many experts have this feeling America would royally screw this project up.
People have real concerns that if that pipeline should break, leak, rupture, or worse become the target of terrorist, many have doubt that we, America as we now stand, would or could be capable of handling such a disaster of massive proportion.
That should make everyone stop, think, and ask exactly what the hell have we been doing here as a nation?
Where and why have we failed at something so simple?
If we find ourselves concerned with a simple pipeline, what about everything else in our future?
Roads, bridges, dams, levees? Education? Healthcare? Climate? Transportation?
The STUPID would ignore the future and prefer to make a few political brownie points.
But when all hell breaks lose, where will they the stupid be?
Nowhere to be found, that's where.
FDR was and is praised for his foresight when it came to our future, planning ahead, our infrastructure, creating parks, and all this during a depression.
FDR is remembered.
The stupid will not be remembered.
They just do the damage.
And we the people empower the stupid.
That is why I asked, can we survive stupid?
PS....
Here is just one example of STUPID.
Mitch McConnell hates Obamacare and will repeal it.
But he favors his states healthcare called KYNECT.
KYNECT is Obamacare. Obamacare is KYNECT.
Kentuckians ACA healthcare is KYNECT.
Mitch will do everything possible if given the chance to repeal Obamacare, but not his states KYNECT.
Now I ask... is this simply the stupid? Or exactly what?
Is Mitch that stupid? Or does he believe Kentuckians are the stupid?
So....... Just how long can a country afford to be ran on the stupid, and by the stupid?
Just multiply his theory by climate, infrastructure, education, economy, and national security.
Can we survive stupid?
I'm asking....
