Well .. Question is not from physical point of view, because that's obviously possible .. afterall, it's just a mATX mobo in mATX case ..

The question is about the customized case lighting .. Alienware have this AlienFX feature where the case interacts with you .. so if I play battlefield 3 .. the case lights go white .. if i'm hit, they go pink, if i die, they go red.

Such lovely feature is achieved by a daughter baord which plugs in the main board via USB 2.0 header.

Also, i believe it's responsible for active venting where case vents open and/or close depending on how hot is the CPU.

So back to the question:
If I repalce my aging X58 Motherboard (Running i7 930 @ 3.5 GHz) with a commercial board like ASUS Gene VI, will i get those nice features by just connecting the daughter baord to the new board to the new Motherboard's USB 2.0 Header.

it seems like it would, try disconnecting that "daughter board" and put it on your friend's computer and play bf3, see what happens?

Thanks for the update .. seems it will .. it just makes sense .. all other componenets are upgradable, so why not the mobo ..

I will try it when I decide to upgrade .. for now .. I can live with Core i7 930 since it's running @ 3.5 GHz ..

Will wait a bit for Ivy-E before going for an upgrade ..
