Can alcohol make you sad the next day?

I got drunk for the first time on Thursday and while I felt great when I was drunk... the next day I just felt sad and easily agitated . I didn't think that the alcohol was the cause of those feelings until I felt the same way after I drank again (though I didn't get drunk) a few days later. So I'm starting to think that it's the alcohol that's making me feel this way.

Can alcohol make someone feel a little depressed and agitated the following days after consuming it? And if it does, how long does it take to make the feelings go away?

Sometimes I'm sad the next day when I consider how I went to all that trouble to get drunk and it didn't last.

Depends on how much you had to drink and if you're waking up with equally hungover people. My household after-party trip to Denny's is usually pretty entertaining.

Congratulations, you had a hangover. Hangovers suck, but I don't ever remember them making me sad for any other reason that it made me feel sick.

I like to have a drink a night to make me sleepy. In that case it makes me feel happy b/c I'm more awake the next day. If I get completely housed, then yes I get depressed from feeling worthless.

Yes. Alcohol is a depressant.

Alcohol and depression
It's a depressant, but by depressant it means it is a CNS depressant, like benzos or pot. Doesn't mean it makes you depressed per say. Not to say that it couldn't happen.

That sucks OP. I've never really been sad the next day, just really fucking hungover.

Yes, depression is a less common, though possible hangover symptom. Wikipedia says so, and so do several other websites. I also know this from personal experience.
