Can adult aquarium Platy fish regrow their lost scales?

It wasn't due to disease. It was an accident involving the filter, and the fish lose a couple of scales on its back.

Yes, fish scales are fully regenerable. Just be sure that it doesn't get a bacterial infection. This can happen when a fish is missng scales or even its slime layer. Platies are pretty forgiving though. Good luck!
