I'm doing a video project for class and I borrowed my friend's camcorder which records to a hard drive instead of a MiniDV. The camera encodes the video to MPEG format and saves it to the hard drive instead of recording raw video.
I tried to import it to iMovie but since it isn't raw video, I can't cut it how I like. Plus iMovie didn't recognize the MPEG format.
My friend who's taking a class in Adobe Premier Pro CS3 offered to help me out but he didn't know if CS3 could read and work with MPEG clips. He also didn't know if you could cut the MPEG clips within CS3 just like you would if you recorded raw video directly from a miniDV camcorder.
What I mean by cut is if I have a 3 minute clip, I want to only use 1:30 to 2:40. I do this all the time with raw footage from a miniDV camcorder but this time I don't have access to one and my project is due in a few days, so I have to work with what I have.
Is this possible? If so, how can it be done?
