It'll handle it just fine. You can even do some overclocking, though not all that high (220MHz FSB or so). :)

tks EL
what will that 220 get my OC up to, was hoping for ~3 Gig or so, but as you can see by my number of posts I haven't overclocked anything b4, so I'm not too greedy. I just wast to be able to kick ass at Half Life 2 and learn a little more getting ready to do it.

this post over here made me nervous too

bottom line, should I return this MB and upgrade to a 865 or 875 or just chill and put this bi-atch together tomorrow?

if you want to figure out how fast your cpu would be using 220fsb, just use a calculator.

2400 / 200 = 12 . . . therefore your cpu's multiplier is permanently locked at 12. So, just multiply 12 by 220 to figure out what your cpu speed would be at that clock speed.

220 * 12 = 2640mhz

hope that helps :)

thanks
when I get the bh7 and set the fsb to 200, do I have to mess at all with the pci/agp or mem voltage settings? I have corsair pc3200 512 400 mhz sitting here (yeah I bought the value select, didn't spend enough time in forums before ordering)
:wine:

you really shouldnt hafta mess with any voltages to run at default settings . . however since the 845pe chipset really wasnt intended for 400fsb (abit just pulled it off) it is possible that you may need to bump up the voltages a little. Just try it at default, and see if it works :)

Hey Butch thanks for your advice, but things have a way of working out sometimes. My BH7 showed up with a busted heat sink over the 845 chip, so I got a refund from googlegear and my new ABit IS7 is on the way, should take care of most of my questions. We'll see!!

thanks
