Was wondering if I wireless network could cause the phones to fade in and out. I mean when you're talking to someone their voice will start to fade then in a few seconds you'll be able to hear them again. Oh and there are filters on every line that a phone uses.

Asking because sorta in a debate about this issue. I'm saying no because if it was anything it would be more of a static interference then the actual fading in and out of the phone.

Hrmm, am I wrong here?

Wired phones? No. 2.4Ghz wireless phones? Yes. Cellphones? Maybe.

If you're having problems with wired phones, the problem almost certainly lies elsewhere.

Are the phones 2.4GHz?

If so, then it is possible. But usually it's the phones causing interference on the wireless network, not the other way around.

Sorry, they are 2.4GHz wireless phones.

What can I do to correct this? Cause unplugging the router everytime someone wants to use the phone will be a pain.

Get 900Mhz / 4.8Ghz phones? It's only 2.4Ghz ones that will cause cross-interference with 802.11b (which also is on the 2.4Ghz band).

Also, I wouldn't recommend using a microwave if you want your phones OR wireless network to function nearby.

So even a microwave will cause issues?

Add satellite dish to the list of microwave interruptions. :p

i guess the easiest thing to do is get a wired phone or the 5.8ghz ones. you can try changing your 2.4ghz phone's channel and see if that helps.

Yeah, they have dish too.

See this is a big issue cause it's at my parents house, I stay with them during the summer a few days a week to cut costs (poor college kid here), and my step father just spent $80 on these new phones and he's pissed because of this and is blaming it all on my wireless network.

He does have the Dish, and of course there's a microwave like there is in every household these days.

Yeah I do. The DSL is connected upstairs at a small desk which is 20 degree's hotter and right by the bedrooms so if anyone is trying to sleep they would hear the typeing of the keyboard. So if you want to be on a PC past 8pm you can't be up there.
