Can a wireless AP be used as an extender?

So yesterday I bought a Belkin wireless G router with the intentions of extending my wireless network but I just realized that it does'nt have a repeater mode. It does have a AP mode but I'm not sure if I can use that mode to extend out my network, does anyone know if this might work? If so how do I configure it?

I'm currently using a Linksys wireless router and I'm hoping that it will be able to communicate with the Belkin.

If there is No Repeater or WDS mode it can use as an Extender if it connected away from the source with a Cable (I.e. Not a Wireless Extender).

Otherwise, look at this site might be that either your Belkin or Linksys can be flashed with 3rd party firmware and then used as Extender.
