I know its a wierd question but i have gone through 2 monitors in the last 30 days. I never had a problem with either one of them till i hooked them up to the 8800gts 320 mb graphics card i have.

1. the crt i had started to flicker and bow in alot and now its dead
2. the lcd just wont turn on anymore the little blue lite comes on but thats it. I tried with another computer and same thing.

It's possible. The video card has the capability of uploading firmware to the monitor. If this corrupted firmware (EDID) got sent (software bug), the monitor's firmware could be damaged.

It's probably fixable with a little experimentation. If you didn't hook up both DVI and VGA on the LCD then you may be able to dump the VGA firmware (which is separate) thru another PC, change analog flag to digital and upload it to the DVI port. Just cloning the VGA firmware to the DVI firmware would probably be enough. You may be able to do this with PowerStrip or DVI Recover (google).

Since it's not your fault, I'd assume this would be covered either through the video card manufacturer or monitor manufacturer, so I would email your video card manufacturer first before voiding any warranties.

You can try hooking up the CRT to a video card and set the driver to ignore the EDID and simply use the general timing formula. Again, PowerStrip will be able to do this. That way you could test if the CRT worked. I don't know if this would work with the LCD.
