Can a UPS be plugged into a grounded three outlet extension cord?

It's one of those grounded extension cords with three outlets at one end. Can I safely plug a UPS into it? I know you aren't supposed to plug UPS's into surge strips, but this extension cord should be a direct connection to the wall.

If I can't do the three plug extension cord, am I safe plugging the UPS into a one plug grounded outdoor quality extension cord and running that straight to the wall? Thanks.

The key spec would be wire size in the cord. I have seen UPS's plugged into flimsy extension cords that beeped and blinked lights continually because the voltage drop in the too-light wire in the cord looked like a power failure to the UPS. Try to keep the extension cord as short as possible and make sure the wire size is #12 or #14AWG.

It's a big heavy duty 12 or 13 amp cord, so wire size should be ok. I'll make sure it's #12 or #14 wire though. I think it's a 9 foot cord or something close to that, but I need it to be that long. My 486 and P133 are in the middle of my basement and the only plugs are on the walls, so I need this cord to get power to the computers.

It looks like everything should be fine. :)
