Can a Serial-->USB converter slow the USB bus?

Just when you think you've got it all memorized...

My new MB has no serial port (nor headers on the board) and I need to connect my UPS's serial cable so the shutdown software can do it's thing.

I've ordered a Serial->USB converter which I'm assuming will work fine. But will it slow my USB bus? I've got a USB KB/Mouse/card reader/all that usual USB stuff that everyone has.

nope it shouldn't slow it down at all.
