Can a rise in temp cause Windows to auto shutdown? (Temp auto shutdown = DISABLED)

Possibly. Same with APM, the BIOS setting to shutdown may have no effect on an OS that can also detect it and preform actions as necessary. Check for any motherboard specific drivers activating this in Windows, and see if it happens while in DOS.

Wait... so are you looking for a program that can automatically shut Windows and the computer down when the temperature has reached a certain level in your case or cpu?

or

Are you asking if a rise in temperature in the case or cpu will cause your computer to shut down?

The first take on it... that program sounds really interesting. I wonder if there's a program out there that notifies you that the heat is getting up there into dangerous conditions and you should save your work and shut down. Or if it could notify you and then automatically do it in a set time limit...

I do know that if your computer is having heat problems, it'll cause random reboots... that's what happened to my crappy Compaq.
