I know it has been asked and I believe the answer is yes...

I was recently at a conference and one of the perks was a free copy of Vista Ultimate 32bit OS...

SO...I was curious how I can go about getting a Vista 64bit Ultimate Disc since I already have a retail 32bit key...to take advantage of the performance...

Can anyone give recommendations please?

Since I have no idea I will also ask...

Are the disks some how different? Like you get one disc for the 32bit install and a different disc for the 64bit install?

Or it is some how on the same disc and you have to know how to choose what version to install.

Thanks in advance!

All Vista DVDs are either 32-bit or 64-bit. None contain both.

Try ordering the 64-bit Vista DVD here.
The order process only works with Retail-like Keys.

Which reminds me...
Has anybody EVER been able to understand Microsoft's "alternative voice delivery" option to pass the "captcha" screen on MS' ordering screens?

Go to the MS web site listed above, start the ordering process, and after choosing your country, try listening to the voice reading numbers to you. Every time I try it, I find it IMPOSSIBLE. Am I crazy, or is Microsoft crazy?

Edit: Listening to the latest one, it seems that MS may have improved this a bit. I was actually able to sorta' comprehend the voice. In the past, I've tried this many times, and found it an impossible task. I've complained to MS about it, asking if they've ever actually tried using this "feature".

Just download/torrent an un-cracked iso image of Vista x64 and use the key that came with your 32-bit DVD. It works perfectly and saves you $10 (I think) getting a copy directly through MS.

The answer is YES. I recently got M$ to ship me a retail 64bit DVD for Home Premium... installed with no problems using the original key from the retail box.

If your copy is an OEM copy, then you can't get the 64bit media from MS. Your key will work with 64bit media, they just won't give it to you.

yes its a OEM copy of ultimate from a DELL dvd. whether its pirated or not i dont know but i just did SP1 and all updates after SP1 work. in my system info a DELL Logo sows up and the product ID has OEM somewhere in the middle of it.

im kinda wishing i didnt buy 4 gb ram since i just have 32 bit now. i might just have to buy a retail vita 64 then for 1XX$

I have an academic copy from the University I go to. The only copy they had was the 32 bit. Would I be able to get a 64 bit copy form Microsoft for the academic version? Or would it be considered OEM instead of retail?

My university only provides an academic copy of vista business 32bit dvd, I torrented a 64bit iso and it worked fine. I'm pretty sure all version of Vista can be upgraded to 64bit, just whether Microsoft will ship it to you. If you have a key just go download it.
