Can a pregnant woman drive in the carpool lane legally?

Most carpool lanes only have restrictions during certain parts of the day, like from 6am-9am and 3pm-6pm, Monday-Friday. So for any other hours/weekends you can be in the carpool lane, unless you have an all hours carpool lane.

I remember reading an article about some woman trying to beat a ticket using that excuse. Judge agreed then cited the law that states that only 1 person can be behind the wheel of the car and gave her a ticket for that.

True or not? I would take it with a grain of salt.

that's funny. fine, you can use the carpool lane but I will hit you with a heavy fine for having 2 people behind the wheel

Then that would mean the passanger sitting in the seat behind the driver would be "behind" the wheel too, no?😉

you don't live near a city, do you?

We have carpool lanes while waiting to get on the freeway (ramps are metered with stop lights) but none on the actual freeway itself.

And I like theone about siting the lady for having two people behind the wheel. heh.

They are called HOV (high occupancy vehichle) lanes here. They are for people carpooling, or traveling with more than on person in the car to encourage carpooling. It gives the people a faster lane to use in traffic, since most cars only have one person and can't use it.

Well, if you can be convicted of killing two people for killing a pregnant woman...
I think that's a lot different. It is still a life meanign that murder is murder, but it is not an additional passenger and is no where near the intended use of the HOV lane.

Pro Choice= No carpool lanes before 2nd Trimester
Pro Life= Carpooling allowed as soon as you are pregnant

she should have to buy two plane tickets too, two movie tickets, and at the buffet, pay for two... etc.

No, because those things are free for children under the age of 2 years.

But if you firmly believe that life begins at conception, shouldn't that "age of 2 years" come three months after their first birthday, assuming they were carried for the full 9 month term, since that's when they would have been alive for 2 years?

I mean, why the continuing hypocrisy from you "life begins at conception" folks?

And, since at conception that fertilized egg is no more viable as life than is the sperm or egg seperately, why halt the idiocy there?

I style myself as in the rabidly moral forefront of the "masurbation is murder" movement!

Mass murder at that. Serial mass murder for you repeat offenders. Assault with your weapon until it's dead.

I ask, where's the moral outrage?

The point of carpooling is to save trips, therefore saving natural resources, time, less congestion and etc.
The unborn baby is going whereever you are going anyways, the baby byitself cannot physically go anywhere without the mother, therefore it cannont make trips on its own. Therefore you cant save trips by carpooling with an unborn baby.

I thought it was to lessen the amount of traffic on the roads, which thereby reduces pollution. How is it about saving trips? 😕
