i am new and never do this, but there 's always the first time and this is the right time for me to try. I got a Palomino core which I know is not good for OC, I also have MSI KT400 board , how should I overclock, and I use retail HSF. What happens if let say the capability of the CPU can go to 1.8G and I try 2.0G?? Would the CPU burn???
thanks
give me all advices please guys.

Not sure, but I think the 400 has a pci/agp lock. Realistically, you will probably only get 1.8ghz. Palmino's hit a wall around there. The highest I have ever gotten my 1600 is 18.58ghz (10.5X177) It booted and I could actually leave it running, but if I ran anything intense (games, prime) it would crash in about 10 minutes (5 in prime). With the 13X multiplier on the XP2100, you probably are at your max, unless you unlock it. If you do, you will not get much out of it. With the retail HSF you have, I would say just try upping the FSB to 135. What kind of memory do you have? If you can run stable at 135 set it to 136, and so on.
