A whole new transmission.. and drive train...

You would rather buy a new car.

Definitely possible, but it will cost you big $$...

Likely over $1k after all parts and labour...

It will be cheaper to sell your car, and buy the same yr/model but w/ an auto transmission....

Well, man, it depends on whether you're buying a new or a used trans. It also, of course, depends on who is doing the work. If you plan on having the work done for you, expect a cost of around $2,000, IF you plan on buying a used transmission. If you buy used, and plan on doing the work yourself, it could be done for less than $200.

Wait... you want to change a manual to an auto!!!! Learn to drive a stick... I would take a stick over an auto any day.

you'd need the transmission, possibly ECU, auto shifter, maybe axles. Don't forget the wide brake pedal to make it a true auto ;)

In addition to the actual transmission, he will also need to buy a new ECU (likely) programmed for the auto trans, a pedal set (since he doesn't need the clutch pedal anymore), etc...

Plus I suspect it will involve some custom work to put everything together and working... So quite labour intensive...

d00d, get an erector set and program the little brain thingy to shift at the right times, then make a robo arm to shift and a robo foot to whack the clutch. You'll be golden.
