can a mac ipod be converted to a pc ipod?

You can use iTunes and iPod updater to turn a 1G or 2G iPod to a windows compatible one. Just make sure you back up all your music because the iPod needs to be reformatted.

i think if u plug it into the pc and manually go into the directory of the ipod (i.e. enable disk use) there is a hidden folder which contains all the music. don't know if thats how the apple stores music on the ipod, but i know its how the pc stores it.

Yep. Mac iPods are HFS+. Windows iPods are FAT32. It'll have to be reformatted.
