One thing that sucks very badly with FX AM3+ CPUs is its out-dated platform which doesn't even support PCI-E 3.0 not to mention a slew of other things like those new SSD interfaces.
Asrock fatal1ty 990fx killer
It has M2 Socket for SSDs and perhaps more features than Socket 1150 at the same price(excpet PCI-e Gen 3).
I would be very hesitant to choose anything AMD over an Intel alternative unless I already had a very good cooler like NT-DH14 intending to OC heavily otherwise I would choose an Intel option, even i3 over FX6300. But FX6300@4.7GHz should be better, power consumption be dammed, but it makes sense only if you already have a good cooler.
You dont need the DH14 to OC the FX6300 to 4.7GHz. Also the new FX8320E and FX8370E will OC to 4.4GHz with 1.35V to 1.38V.

hmm it still looses quite badly in ST benchmarks, MT are not applicable to FX6 to i3 comparison, even after OC the choice is not clear.

Really now, except Biosock minimum fps every other game playes the same on both CPUs. Ohh, PCI-e Gen 2 has no negative affect even with dual GPUs as you can see.
ps: is GTX 770 SLI close to GTX 980 performance or what ??
