nope. that would be cool, though. I was thinking about that today with my crossfire rig and FEAR. Like 1 card does 2xAA and the other do Soft Shadows -- I wish :p
I can force it though it's hard for it to stick next play through.

BTW, I hope you meant it for curiousity's sake cos other wise...

Just curious but what about ATI don't you like? Keep in mind the G80 and R600 based cards won't be out until Nov, Dec, or maybe even not until next year.

the GX2 is a killer deal for bang/buck and the implementation is very slick.

if you go x1900 crossfire you are still going to get subpar performance, and only get HDR+AA in one currently popular game which is Oblivion. And that even requires a 3rd party hack to get working.

If you appreciate Nvidia software support and hardware, I'd get yourself a GX2 and when they enable quadSLI you will have some true stomping power.

You could buy two X1900XTs, a Crossfire motherboard and use that dongle to connect the very loud and noisy, high power consumption video cards and still get beat by 10FPS in FEAR@19x12 or just get yourself a GX2 and enjoy life.
They say two GX2s in quadSLI would take less power than X1900 Crossfire!

Waiting for G80 isnt a bad idea either. But the reality on the HDR+AA game situation is harsh, and current hardware besides the GX2 isnt fast enough to push it at high resolutions.

There is something terribly wrong with those benchmarks, look at the FEAR benchmarks, at the highest resolution the lone 7900gt beats x1800xt crossfire...

Edit

And again look at the Quake 4 benchmark, the 7900gt at highest resolution beats the 7950..

Those guys are quite far from "legit"

You forgot to mention that, according to you, in the only game that supports HDR+AA, the gx2 still loses to a single XTX. What were you saying again about current hardware and HDR+AA?
And, the gx2 is just about as loud, hot and powerhungry as a XTX. So, does that mean you're now gonna bash it too for sounding like a jet engine, melting your desk, and requiring its own powerplant, or have you now shifted that definition to dual x1900's now that the green team isn't running so cool anymore?

Well i hope he read the X-Bit Lab review on the 79050GX2, as well that gets beaten by nearly twice the performance when it has 16xAA compared to a Xfire set up which is running at 14xAA. Even the SLI set ups are being blown away.

And i have no idea why he was saying it was the best bang for buck, when clearly in that area the X1900XTX Xfire set up is best bang for buck.

Can a GeForce 7950 run AA+HDR
Yes but not FP HDR.

if you go x1900 crossfire you are still going to get subpar performance,
It looks pretty good to me. It's faster than the 7950 in many cases, especially when you start using its efficient SSAA modes.

and only get HDR+AA in one currently popular game which is Oblivion.
False.

And that even requires a 3rd party hack to get working.
Sure, if you count ATi's driver developers being "third party".

He's saying that cause he has sweet dreams of being in NVidia heaven one day. He can't upset the NVidia gods for he fears their wrath.

In just the link he provided, the single 7900GTX gets beaten by the X1900XT and the X1900XTX for FEAR (the game he mentioned).

To the OP, I guess that is a decent reason for not wanting ATI cards but still...there are lots of happy ATI (and NVidia) owners on this board so you should be fine with one of the newer ATI cards. If you really want FP16 HDR+AA right now then ATI cards are your only choice. However if you don't mind waiting then I'm guessing G80 will probably have it.

So you had some really bad luck and now you limit yourself to one company who may or may not be best.
Logic FTW

I dunno sounds reasonable.

How many times must a company burn you before you won't use them anymore?

Not saying he's in the right about ATI but seriously that was a pretty good reason for him not to bother with them.

Someone should ask nitromullet which company sucks more, he's had bad luck with both ATI and Nvidia and could probably tell ya.

I don't remember seeing the OP ask which card to get Crusader, but thanks for the unimportant information/advertisement.

Yes, the 7950 can do HDR + AA, but so far only on Source engine titles.

I can understand why you don't want ATI after three strikes. Just curious though, were they all different companies, or just the same one x3?

Well, you got your answer I guess...if you want FP16HDR+AA right now then you have to get an ATI card. If you're gonna wait then just get the G80.
