Can a flash drive that has been made bootable be changed back.

I had converted a usb flash drive to be bootable using syslinux.

Can i convert it back to being a regular non-bootable flash drive by formatting it or will that just erase the data but not the boot up part?

Formatting it should delete everything on it.
