Can a Emachines PSU be used to power a regular ATX motherboard?

Hi all, I have a Emachines PSU that I would like to use for a project I am working on. The PSU wires at the ATX connector look identical to a regular ATX PSU except that it is missing the one white wire. Does anyone know what this wire is for? Are these PSU's for use only on Emachines motherboards? I just don't want to plug it in a see sparks or hear a loud pop. 😉

Any help would be greatly appreciated 😀

as cheap as psus are i wouldnt take the chance myself. if it were generic thats one thing but emachines is def oem stuff

My Emachines piece of crap has such a garbage PSU that it started to crash after I bought a Radeon 7200. I looked at how much power it was rated for and it said 120W.

If you want your computer to fail in 3D games due to a lack of power, use the Emachines PSU.
