Can a doctor prescribe himself his own medication?

What if a doctor isn't feeling too well, can he just write up a prescription for codine or valium?

Most docs just give out samples rather than writing prescriptions.
And yes, doctors can administer their own medication, and perform their own physicals.
When I fill out applications for insurance policies for doctors, most put "SELF - M.D." as their primary physician. 😛

All surgeons are doctors, though all doctors aren't surgeons. So technically, being that a surgeon is one of the ...5(?) professions that are officially "doctors," they are technically doctors performing surgeries.
