Can a digital video camera pass as a digital still camera?

Is it possible/feasible to get a digital video camera that will also function as a decent still shot digital camera for less then $1000? (preferably, much less ) I am not going to be earning a living or anything with this thing just would like to be able to take decent pictures (photo album type stuff) and good video with it.

I think there are Sony's that can do 1152 X 864 but these tend to be $$$$$. Around 1500. There are others than can as well and cheaper but resolution may be far less.

My JVC VHS-C takes 30 stills at a crack and I can download to my pc. Lots of vidcams do that. Is that what you are looking for?

unxpurg8d I was hoping you would do the research for me and just send me the link to the site Actually I have been browsing those pages but most of that means little to me (babe in the woods as far as photography or video)

Tripleshot, are those stills pretty decent quality. Not sure how to define that, but how do they look next to a normal 35 mil camera photo?

right now they just don't have the quality to match up to a digital still camera. At most it's a neat little curiosity on the camera.

Save the difference when you purchase a camera (video) to buy a decent digital camera.

Why pay a hundred bucks extra for the memory stick when it really isn't all that useful.

You could look at it the other way around...there are many Digital cameras that can shoot a short video....the length of the video depending on the amount of memoryin the camera.
My Fuji Finepix 4700 with a 16M card can do a 180 sec movie.....not very long I agree but if I had a 64meg card....
