Can a digicam's CCD break when you drop a camera?

Friend of mine dropped her digicam and the LCD screen became cracked. Nothing would show up on the screen, but it would still take pics just fine.

We bought a replacement LCD from eBay and i installed it (had to connect one ribbon cable and solder two wires). However, the LCD is still blank (camera still takes pics).

Could this be a busted CCD as well?
