Can a Crossfire ATI card be ran as a single video card?

Reason I ask is that there is a Crossfire X1800XT on the FS/FT forums and I wouldn't mind to pick it up thinking I may get a 975X motherboard in the near future and would like the option of Crossfire. I currently have a 955X motherboard without the option for any type of dual video cards.

Thanks all!

if your only using single card i think for now it would be best to not get the crossifre edition. ati is doing massive price drops soon, and you will find em used for dirt cheap when that happens...so best to wait just abit...since your not doing crossfire right away.

hope this helps x.x just my humble opinion

I suppose my worry is that I wouldn't be able to find the X1800 Crossfire easily in the future, but I imagine the X1800XTs will still be plentiful.

You have a valid worry there. Just get the X18 CF card and be done with it. It'll run just like any other X1800XT card.
