can a Civic beat a Vette ? (vid now available)

Personaly, I wouldrather have an Astrovan with a decked out 350 under the hood. One with "soccer mom" graphics on the side. Then I could race, be pretty quick, and ride in comfort. all while looking beter than a civic. I will never figure out why people mod honda's to be rockets. they are made for 200kmi commuting, not 1/4 mile sprints.

Ha! I personally want a Ford Econline van with the Lightning powerplant under the hood! 😀

That, my friend, is no longer a "Civic", it's a fvckin' kit-car.

The same could be said for the difference between the entry level V6 "Mustang" that runs a 7.5 second 0-6 and the Supercharged SVT Cobra Stang that runs a Sub 5 second zero to 60.

Not if those are both purchased "stock" from a dealer, but yeah when you start replacing engines, tranny's, and diff's you really don't have the car you started with in anything but body.

beat that for budget speed 😛

$1299 was a turbo kit; those 4 cyl turbo dodges can be quick as hell with a huge turbo. 😛 turbominivan.com

That was my reaction. I'm sorry but it just sounded so pretentious.

My roommate and I were playing pool in a commons area on campus and we overheard some guy talking to some girls about the time he raced some dude for pink slips. Oh god it was so lame.

it's a sleeper i know..

people think their stock cars are fast but when a sleeper rolls around and they get whooped, you see nothing but dropped jaws.

well people buy fast cars to go fast 😉

and that usually attracts other people who wants to race.

it's part of daily driving i guess. people hit me up from time to time wanting a race.

no, people do not buy vettes to run the 1/4 mile against riced out cars...

Of course you have a point. But it's something to see... cause there's no rockets on this thing. Talk about a sleeper...

WHO WANTS TO HOST ?

Best sleeper story. Friend is driving a 76 Nova down the highway in NB Canada racing a Grand National and they are passing everything like its standing still. He says they come up behind a old white Chev Blazer and the Blazer drives away from them just like nothing. About 3 months later I was talking to my brother in law who works at the Dry Dock " You should see this guy at work, he has a 427 in this old blazer..." 😉

Hahaha, this topic is very entertaining. I think it's better to have a car that looks slow and make it fast than it is to have a car that everyone already knows is fast. I like the sleeper look. Just so I can see the expression on the other guy that was certain he was gonna own you, but then got owned in return.

Like the look on boy racer's faces, when in their Escort RS Turbo's, and my dad pulls up next to them in a 1966 Ford Anglia, and beats the crap out of them on the lights! 😉

Granted the Anglia has a Subaru 1800cc 4x4 engine and drivechain, and can spin all 4 wheels if wanted, but it's still fun to see the looks on their face 😉

Confused

Did I mistakenly click on something else that is not AT? Looks the same to me.

Perhaps folks have finally realized what rice actually means.

Or maybe they just haven't taken their afternoon nap yet and are too sleepy to flame. 😀

Um.. people do buy vettes and take it to the track to run other cars to see what it can do.
stop talking out of your ass

of course a Civic can beat a Vette... put a 350 V8 in a Tercel and you can probably beat one in that too... question reeks of *duh*

Even the stock 1.6 can be done up enough to beat a Vette (sadly)
however Callaway or Lingenfelter may say otherwise. 😉

EDIT>> I have the video to prove it can. Who wants to host ? ~7MB.

maybe if you blew a humongus wad of cash on a funking civic, and the vette had a freaking retard driving.
i still find it amazing that the dumb ass punks think that civics are a good car....
i'll take a clapped out vette over a riced out civic any day of the week. at least i would know that i was driving a car that had class.
and dollar for dollar, i would spend less for a cherry vette that will smoke any civic out there... why waste cash on a ricemobile when you can spend your money on a real car?

I was thinking 'Yes, if it's a Chevette' when I entered this thread. 😱

Not that I'm surprised, with enough $$$ (almost) anything is possible.

you just made yourself out to be a total asshat....
what makes you think that the civic that laid the smack down on the vette was riced out ?
it was infact a sleeper.
and the car itself won't give you any class if you're an asshat to start with.
and dollar for dollar you'd spend less on a civic that would blow away the vette then buying a stock vette and modding it out.

looks like STILL nobody offered to host it. PM me

edit: to comment on thread...
hilarious! people arguing back and forth... lol. they're just two damn cars, let people spend their money on whatever they want! of all the things to bitch and argue about, why this! if someone wants to waste their money on souping up a POS car, let them do it. obviously they don't consider it a waste or they wouldn't do it. and for those of you who think vettes have more class and would be a better investment or less of a "waste" - again that's your opinion and other people may not share it. regardless of which side you take, seeing a normal looking civic outrun a corvette would be humerous. 🙂

personally i don't think it's worth modding an econobox, cause then you have a car that may be fast but is still a cheaply built econobox that is no longer economical. what's the point in a non-economical economy car? doesn't make much sense does it. a corvette on the other hand is not made to be economical, and is fast, sleek and handles well to begin with,

dont get me started on "rice" 😛

well where is the vid?

i saw the video of the turob'd '90ish dodge/ply minivan thats a Lot faster than my '67 Camaro 😉
i did Not "build"my Camaro to drag rac, but to "cruise"

[go to the local car cruises]

It depends on how many stickers the civic has. I mean, if you cover the thing with NOS decals, you're sure to win. You can also experiment with different ones to get the perfect specs. Alternate between Type R and Type S logos, you may see a performance increase. And don't forget the wing or you'll never win...

Yeup, any car can beat any car if the driver sucks.

Also the Civic can have a swapped out engine (which is pretty popular these days).
