My cable modem often drops its connection. I recently formatted and it was doing pretty well. Next thing you know I put down my phone and a few minutes later the connection dropped. Now I don't know whether or not it dropped because I am dling a lot of files, or if it's because of the phone. WHat do you think?

i dont see how a cell phone can interfere with cable....

are you using wireless?

if not.. i dont see how it could...

I have cable modem also, and I always use my cell at my computer.. works fine to me.

call the cable company.. tell them your problem and get someone to fix it. even tell them to give you credit for your down time

They've been to my house well over five times for this exact problem. They just can't seem to fix it. Either that, they are really lazy and don't wanna fix the problem.

I dont think so, but I could be wrong.
Having two teenagers in the house I dont use my land line at all... because even if I can find the phone free when I try to make an important call the call waiting constantly beeps,
therefore I always use my cell phone... and I normaly use it right next to the computer and cable modem.
I have never had a problem with my cable modem ISP dropping at any time for any reason.

Peace

i have heard of CORDLESS PHONES causing RF interference on the cable modem if the base is sitting right next to the modem (within a foot), but i've never heard of CELL PHONES causing problems. anything that puts out RF, however, can cause interference with other RF based technologies, depending of course on the shielding of the cabling etc.

my wifi access point will cause the cable modem to drop connections if I set them right next to each other.

It very well might... I get static from my speakers if my cell phone rings and it's near my cable modem. It's weird.

it might be, I know my cellphone causes my stereo to make popping noises even though it's just running line in input and not radio.
