Can a Celeron 466 handle Windows 2000 Advanced Server?

I dont see why not, but obviously more task intensive things will be harder to run. ie a high traffic web site. try it and see.

yes it will be fine.

your ram will hurt you before your processor does in 2000 AS.

Add more ram if you can. 256+ is really great on AS.

it will for sure, runs sweet on my dads down at work,

P2 350 64 ram..

i added a 256 BAM!!!!! what a difference,

like the others say, ram will help alot... 🙂

More than anything, it depends on what you're going to *do* with W2K Adv. Server on the machine.

If you're going to use it for playing games, then go for it.

If you're making in the sole Domain Controller for thousands of users, running DHCP server, RIS Server, and hosting Terminal Server sessions with several mutigigabyte SQL Server databases, you might want a faster processor. 🙂

Seriously, I realize that my examples are extreme to the ridiculous, but the OS in and of itself isn't all that processor hungry; it's the apps that you're going to be running on the OS.

IT should be fine, we run it at work on a duel p2 450 machine with the slower half speed L2s, but RAM is a must, we had only 256 in it and it ran all of our webpages fine, but when we installed backoffice, OMG 512 wouldn't even keep that thing happy.

AS is a piggy, but with enought memory you should be fine, BTW if you using this thing for just normal use, then i would really think about not running w2k adv. If your gonna be running Active directory or as a web server then adv. will do ya...But games and such, Professional all the way..

I've done dual Celeron 400's and they've worked just fine under 2k AS. My server is actually only a pair of Pentium 2 266's and 288mb of RAM, but it runs absolutely fine. A 466 shouldn't lag it to bad, but it'll eat your ram alive. 🙂
