I have an old CPU (XP1500+) and mobo (ECS K7S5A) that might be damaged. I don't really know which one is broken.

I got both a new mobo (ECS KT600) and CPU (XP2500+)

Can I stick my XP1500+ in the new mobo to test the old CPU? Would it break anything? If it works, would being too slow mess up the mobo? I assume I can't stick the 2500+ into the K7S5A 'cuz it won't support it?

Potentially can kill parts. I've killed an Abit BH6 that way. It was a functional board that I just tested with reference parts, then I started swapping in parts from a machine that wouldn't turn on. After installing the CPU from the dead system, BH6 wouldn't POST. Never POSTed again, with known good parts.
