It's actually not me, it's deerslayer and I'm at school and he's at home. I guess the bat was bothering them so they got a garbage can or something and trapped it and then gave it beer.

I've never tried this, because I'm not an evil bastard, and I think bats are cool for the role they play in keeping insect populations down, but I have it on good authority that it's easy to catch bats if you put some rocks in a really furry sock and throw it up when a bat is close by. If you throw something close to a bat they swoop at it to see if it's food, and apparently they get their claws stuck in the furry sock which falls to the ground and you just walk up and collect your bat. Use this knowledge only for good.

In beer? Yes, I'm sure if you submerge a bat in beer it will get drunk, but not drown. Are your friends stupid?

almost any mammal will be affected by beer....with a bat it may be relatively easy to overdose it. Not all animals have the ability to puke/purge themselves.

The real question is, is there really nothing better to do than spend time with a bat and a possibilty of 1 of several afflictions it can cause.
