I'm starting to wonder if maybe my power supply is going bad. I recently bought 2 more gigs of RAM, installed them, and noticed that the performance increase in games was very small, if nothing at all, though desktop apps ran faster. In World of Warcraft, I've actually seen FPS decreases. I removed the RAM, thinking it was bad, but WoW still did not perform like it used to.
What leads me to believe it might be the PSU is the fact that it was only 45$ shipped in the first place, and the 8 pin connection on the mobo is only connected with a 4 pin from the PSU. I've had it for close to 2 years now, too.
I know I need to upgrade, but I still want to know if it could be the PSU affecting performance. And if so, does anyone have good suggestions for a budget PSU, keeping in mind that I will be upgrading my video card soon, probably to a 8800GT?
My system is shown in my profile.
Thanks!
