Can a bad MB destroy a video card? A PSU?

If so on both counts, that would account for what happened to my main PC this week. First my video card went bad, then the system wouldn't start, not even a little. Swapping the PSU with another hasn't solved the problem, so I have to think the MB is bad. Would the bad MB possibly kill the video card before the system refused to start? Could that bad MB have damaged the PSU? I don't want to endanger any of my other computer hardware if I can't trust my PSU's now. Thanks for your opinions/knowledge/advice.

If the motherboard damaged the PSU, the PSU would not work but it probably would Not damage another MB.

If the Motherboard does not work the Video would Not work whether it so damaged or Not.

So you should start with a New Motherboard.

it is far more likely for a bad psu to damage a motherboard then for a motherboard to damage a psu (and a bad psu can kill every piece of hardware you have)

Right, and this was the reason I thought the PSU was at fault. Making that assumption cost me a perfectly good PSU and caused me to endanger other system components.

What happened is that I swapped out the PSU for another and the second PSU was destroyed in a second. Oddly, the first PSU seems OK. The mobo also evidently ruined my video card. The mobo looks OK on careful inspection but it's going right in the trash (well, I'll recycle it). It's an OEM, and MSI says they won't warranty it (it's 8 months old), and the vendor's 90 days are up. I'm shopping for another MB.

Yeah, I'm getting another MB. Actually, until I get that I'm using my old one, but it doesn't support SATA, so all the data I have on my 500 GB SATA is inaccessible to me for a while. I tested that bad video card in two other systems, so I know it's bad. It has a lifetime warranty from BFG, though, so I guess they'll send me one at least as good. They're great that way and it's one reason I keep getting BFG cards. When I called them I really thought the problem was just that the vid card had gone bad. It had, but then my system wouldn't start and I knew something else was up.
