I'm making this build for my cousin.
Can an antec earthwatts, 380W, power supply do well with:
E2180 processor (aiming for at least 3ghz)
1 xfx 8600gt gfx card
1 seagate 7200.10 250gb hdd
1 samsung sata dvd-burner
1 gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l mobo
2gb of pc2-8500 ddr2 (2x1gb)
and a case w/ three fans

here is the link to the psu:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371005

The processor is said to be tdp rated @ 65 watts, the xfx gfx card @ around 40w, and I hear you should conclude 10-15 watts for other things. The system will be fully overclocked, but I'm thinking the 20A 3.3 and 5V, as well as dual 17@ 12V rails will handle it- just wanted to reach some sort of consensus on it. Thanks for nay help!

It's very difficult to load a conventional single GPU rig above 300 watts unless you're running a bunch of ridiculous proggies to stress the CPU and GPU simultaneously.

Thanks for the link! I was trying to find that site- had seen it before. It said that I'd expect to use about 214 watts, which seems to be in line with my gravest estimates. Which I suppose is good- the 380 watt earthwatts would be able to give out about, say 300 watts before running into loading problems. I didn't care how many watts I'd need- I knew I was going to stick a certified 80+ efficient psu in this computer- my cousin always has it on. Figure it'll save her in the long run, and help out the environment too (and at 20 dollars, who can complain!).

I kind of wish the 500 watt antec earthwatts was a bit less expensive- I might dump my 'rosewill' one for that... and since the rosewill isn't too inefficient, hand it down the line so everyone's computer in ym family would get a boost, and the bottom one would just get recycled...
Guess I can save up for my next build. Can't wait to see a intel system that clocks the processor independently of the NB....

What loading problems? The EarthWatts are rated full power output 24/7 @ 50C. :) The only problem with a 300W+ load will be increased fan RPM and a little heat.

I'm running a system fairly similar to that one on one of these for my father... it contains..

1 Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi
1 E2140 @ 3.2Ghz 8x400 1.35v w/ Aerocool dominator
1 Visiontek Raedon HD2400Pro
2 Seagate 400GB Sata drives
2 x 120mm case fans
2 x 2GB Supertalent DDR2 800 1.9v (4GB total)
1x Asus SATA DVD burner
Various USB devices

System works fine running Prime 95 + 3d mark looped which is more stress than it will ever typicaly see.
