can 9700pro water block be used on 9800pro?

I know the 9700pro uses 4 hold down screws for the hsf. I am looking at buying a water block that fits 9000 and 9700 pro cards. I was wondering if the hole to hole distance diagonally across the 9700pro hsf mount is the same as the hole to hole distance on the 9800 pro.

This is the water block I was looking at getting. If anyone knows anything about this subject, I would appreciate the feedback. Or if anyone owns a 9700pro card and is willing to measure the hole to hole distance diagonally across the hsf, that'd be great. Thanks guys.

Just a guess, but i am pretty sure they will be the same. If a vga scilencer can support both a 9700 and a 9800 with the same product then i would assume they are the same distance.

I could be wrong, and in that case, BUMP!

Hmm, that is an interesting point. I've never actually seen the VGA Silencer. Does it have a crapload of mounting holes on bottom so that you could pretty much mount it on anywhere? Or does it just have a couple holes?

only 2 holes, i'll take a few pictures of it and then post them in a few minutes (dieing for an excuse to use my new digital camera)

Pretty much all those cards are the same atleast 9700's and 9800's. I would guess there is no problem at all.

I thought they'd be the same too but look here. They seem to have different VPU cores which might mean they need different levels of cooling? All I know is that the 9700 pro has 4 mounting holes while the 9800 pro has 2.

This is the error that I get. I removed the space between the ":" and the "D" but I guess it doesn't work.

ATI hsf's are pretty generic for the 9600/9700/9800 (non xt) series. Does your water block require 4 holes to stay in place? otherwise, just use 2.

If you look at my original post I have a link to it. I don't think it requires 4. So I could just use 2/4 of the holes on the water block. I just don't know if the spacing will match up.

If the VGA silencer supports both 9700 and 9800 with these 2 holes, I'm convinced the 9700 water block will fit on 9800. Thanks for the pics and that's a nice mirror finish!
