can´t use the right ip..

hi! i have a BIG problem... Was removing my webserver from a Ppro to another PIII, only removed Hd and Nic. Now when i try to use my old, same IP, the computer won´t let me.. saying that that IP is being used by another, nic but not a physically one.... how can i solve this? do i have to enter the registry or is there any simplier solution? Please help! :=)

what kind of network you have? peer to peer? or server-client? A reset of the server could fix this problem if you have the later, but if you have peer-peer, then trying shuting down all the comps, or just wait for the comps to refresh the IP list.

I used server based network.. this is my mailserver that doesn´t respond.. I will try what you said, but must first inform my clients!

I did it!! all it took was that i enabled hidden devices in Add/remove hardware... then i found my old nic.. thanks for the help anyway!
