Yea, that damn sniper is such a camper....
Anyways, I had the worst dreams last night, and they dealt with that sniper.
He was chasing my ass all around this place ive never been....
It was one of those dreams that was so vivid and clear, that you feel like its happening...even when you wake up..
anyways, i just thought I would rant about that damn camper, shooting people. I wish I had a BFG and saw him sitting in his car....

how exactly does a flashbang work?

is it a big bright flash or delivers some sort of shock?

It's actually a combination of an extremely bright flash and a loud bang hence flash*bang. The sonic component is loud enough to cause ears to bleed when in extreme proximity. Of course I could be completely wrong and talking out of my ass.

ok so how does it do that? you know, for a grenade, pulling the pin lights the fuse which ignites the explosives, but for a flashbang, pulling the fuse does...???

Both of them. I saw a video of a SWAT cop going to toss one into a house right before they rushed it, but the guy surrendered. The SWAT seemed to put the pin back in and dropped the flash bang into a pocket in his pants that was right in the middle of his thigh, halfway between his hip and his knee.

In the vid, you can see the pin fall to the ground - the SWAT didn't properly slide it all the way back in, and it came back out.

...it went off in his pocket.

Left him with 3rd degree burns, half of his pants burnt off, broken ear drums, and a vacation for a few months while new skin was grafted onto his leg and while going through physical therapy.

LOL, I hate to make light of the Md. situation, but the other day I sort of daydreamed a "What If" scenario: What if all the kids going to school in the Md./DC area were given walkie talkies? Then whenever they went outside of school they'd be like "Go go go!" "Taking Fire, Need assistance!" "You take the point!"

You don't "pull" the fuse. Each grenade / flashbang has a pin which is like the safety. Ever seen a fire extinguisher with that little pin or plastic loop that prevents the handle from depressing to release the gasses?

In the same way, that little pin prevents the handle on each of the 'nades from releasing. When you pull the pin, it's like taking a gun off of it's safety. It doesn't fire until you pull the trigger. When you throw a grenade after pulling the pin, nothing happens until you let go of the handle on the side. That handle triggers the internal fuse - and that's where you get the chain reaction taking place.

Same goes for a flashbang, just think of it as a plastic grenade. Builds up a lot of pressure and explodes, thus getting a big bang. Powder inside is bright, but the bang is the most useful thing. Very dangerous. Enough to blow your fingers off. Seen a vid of a cop have a bad bounce and it went down his pants, took a nice chunk of meat out of his leg.

It's not like in games where things are fine after a few seconds. If you're close to it you're not going to be hearing much for a while.

For a flashbang I assume it some sort of pyrotechnec<sp?> and explosive. What makes a grenade dangerous is that the exsplosive is designed to propel metal (pieces of the grenades' metal shell and/or metal projectiles housed inside the grenade) into someone. But a flashbang the explosive is designed to go "bang" (kinda like a firecracker, but a lot louder).

Some grenades, like the Pineapple, are indeed meant to send shrapnel through everything in a small radius. And they never EVER blow up in a huge ball of fire like they do in the movies. It's a puff of smoke and EVERYTHING around them in a close vacinity shattering to all hell.

But, some grenades are meant to do nothing but give concussions to their victims.
