Cameras available in Japan but not in US?

I have relatives in Hong Kong who has access to merchandise in Japan. I just like having things that people have a harder time getting. Now I'm looking for a camera. 😀

EDIT: Preferably digital

I don't know if this is a serious thread but I don't know why you'd want to buy a camera out of Japan or Hong Kong. The price will be higher in Japan and about the same in Hong Kong as the US. (I'm assuming you are in or have access to the US.)

You may get a camera with a different model number but chances are it's more or less identical to a US model. They just change the numbers to make it more difficult to illegally import items outside the official import channel.

Also, if you buy it overseas and need warranty service, you'll have to send it back where you got it. Warranty is handled by the official importer.

I completely agree, there is no reason to get a digital camera in Japan. The prices are higher than in the US, even if you go to Akihabara which has the lowest electronics prices in Japan, the stuff is cheaper at your local compusa or way cheaper online via Dell coupons or what not.

But you didn't listen, he wants something that's different than the US version so he can feel special. Dont' deny his special feeling!
