Camera writing speeds?

i have the canon powershot a310, and was looking to buy a compact flash card. the difference is $21 between the standard kingston and the elite version. i'll get the elite if the camera can write that fast, but can't find info on the writing speeds. can someone please help me out here? thanks

i heard the fast speeds really are only benefited when taking video. some cards can't keep up with the capture speed of the frames. so if you are going to be taking some video feeds with it on a regular basis, you may want to do it.

i'm not %100 sure thats the only reason, but thats what i heard. my a510 comes tomorrow so i'll let you know how it goes 😀

it is mostly DSLR's that can take advantage of the faster writing speeds. Most compact's the speed difference isn't worth it. Definitely save your $21. in fact, $21 could easily buy you another 256 meg card at least,. You can get a 512 for $25 AR these days

well i do take a lot of video with the cam, and was looking to do so at 640 x 480. i currently have a sandisk 128 mb, and it's able ot keep up with the 320 x 240 minute long video clips i've done in the past

3MP doesn't require the fastest CF card. But if makes you feel any better, SanDisk Ultra II is pretty affordable is twice as fast as the standard.

well the kingsont reg was $50 w/ 2-day and the elite was $71 w/ 2 day. do u know where i can get the SD ultra for around that or better?
