Not a bad deal if you maybe want to use it as a walking cane.

I don't understand why you would put a piece of equipment on a tripod this cheap. You paid how much for your digital still camera, $200, $300, probably more for a consumer camcorder? And you're going to trust it to not fall on a $10 tripod?

Its a tripod, unless your strapping the tripod on top of a racecar at the indie 500 I wouldnt worry about it.

He's just bitter he paid more for his tripod than he did his camera. ;)

Seriously though, most people need a tripod just to keep the camera still and for panoramas. A $14 three-legged swiveling object is all that's necessary for me.

What would you recommend I trust not to fall with my $200 - $300 still camera?

I have to disagree. A slight wind and this thing will come tumbling down. I have seen very expensive equipment destroyed by cheap tripods. This is one aria to spend some money. Not a lot, unless you are using a camcorder or SLR. I would say you should be able to find a good enough one for around $50 at B&H. I would go with a mid range Silk or something like that. Good ones will cost well over $200 and go well into the thousands. You get what you pay for, and here it could be a broken camera!

usually the weight tells you a great deal of how sturdy the tripod is. this one is 2.75lbs. just curious how much your $50 or "expensive" tripods weigh?
