Camera often freezes during picture tranfser

Whenver I transfer pictures between my camera (i got it recently) and the computer it freezes OFTEN. It just stops in the process of file transfering and my computer has CDPROC.exe taking up near 100% (The camera itself hasn't crashed so that isn't the source of the problem) of CPU usage

But then if I borrow my friend's memory card reader (its a 6 in one) it works just fine (Zoombrowser EX- i like it b/c it automatiaclly dates and stores the pics) and i can EASILY transfer 128 megs of data (Where with the camera to the computer i'm LUCKY to get 10 pics transferred)

Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on, or should I buy my own card reader and just live with that? Thanks

first step after i bought my digital camera was to get a nice USB2 card reader

i have both and neither has given me a problem
