Camera for shooting conference/lectures (power point presentations)

Hi, I’m looking for a good conference/ lecture video recorder, at the moment I’m using my Iphone 4s, and the camera is surprisingly good for filming powerpoint presentations at a long distance – The text is very clear.

The problem with my Iphone 4s is the battery life is too short, and I don’t want to film and recharge at the same time (would probably effect battery life in the long run)

I tried A Logitec C920 HD pro webcam but the video quality is terrible at far distance as well as the sound quality.

What would be a good alternative to an Iphone 4s? Are there Webcams that are good at filming at longer distance? What makes the iphone 4s better at shooting at long distances than a webcam like a C920 HD pro?

My requirements are:

Same vide quality or better than Iphone 4s (at a distance) with respect to focus at longer distances.
batterylife 2-3 hours (or Webcam)
Average sound quality.

Is using battery imperative? Can you run from a A/C adapter/charger? A portable battery power pack?

Is this for school? Lectures? Maybe a cheap point and shoot with a gorilla pod? It should have the battery life needed or be easy to bring a couple spares.

Whatever works and is not too much work/timedemanding would be just great, we are a group of people who will be taking turns using the camera, and splitting the bill.

At this moment it's for University lectures. Depending on the kind of camera we end up buying I might have to take that gorilla pod into consideration :)

I don't think you need to be concerned about battery life if you're recording with the iPhone 4s while it's plugged in.

That said, if you wanted you could buy a used iPod touch and record with that, since it's basically the same as an iPhone.

Or you could buy a cheap camcorder, which will probably give you better video/sound quality than an iPhone/iPod.

The ipod touch has a low quality 1,3mpx camera, won't be as good as the iphone 4s, I just don't want to heat up my iphone every day. It would be nice with some type of webcam or some stand-alone camera that can be charged as i film.

iPod touch 5th gen has a 5 mpx rear facing camera. Should be sufficient if your iphone 4s was sufficient.

Most camcorders can charge while recording.

you need something with an optical zoom. an older used digital hd camcorder should do the trick. with an extended battery pack they can record for a couple of hours. my parents have an old canon vixia hf something that is nice. Not sure what your price range is though.

Thank you I'll look for that specific qualitty. I bought a bloggie touch once it was HD but the long distance, zoom-adjustment-time and audio were terrible, So i'll check for optical zoom next time i buy a camera and perhaps go with the Ipod Touch 5th generation if i find nothing better :)

Buy a camcorder and get a converter to allow you to connect it to your computer to use it like a webcam.

Something like this one

http://www.amazon.com/kingmys-Easyca...+usb+converter

I usually set up a laptop with the camcorder hooked up to it and connected to the converter. The camera is on a tripod. However my computer and camera are plugged into an electrical outlet.
The logitech 930 is a better webcam than the 920 and has 4x zoom.

Hey thank you for the Recommendation! I'm going to read about logitech 930 - Looks promising.
So If i bought a camcorder would I then be able to recharge it through the converter?
