Camera for filming

Hi!
I am looking camera for filming events (mostly car racing). Important specifications for camera are speed and quality. So frames per second should be 120 or more (for timelaps/ slowmotion). Problem is that i am beginner and not sure that should this camera be more like videocamera or photocamera. I saw that usual videocameras don't have high FPS. Maximum 30-60 fps. But photocameras with filming has higher fps.( I am not quite familiar with videocamera parameters yet.:$ )
So if here is anybody who is experienced in filming then what camera I should look for and what do you recommend?
300-600 dollar price is ok, higher price depends how good the camera is 🙂

Thank you !!!

Go Pro or action cam for slow motion. A DSLR or camcorder that does above 60fps is going to be hard to find and $$$.

GoPro is good for filming FROM the car. Otherwise, the wide FOV makes for a screwy, fisheye lens for regular photos.

I think the newest GoPros do fast filming. If you're going to action-cam route, check out Garmin's version. It looks cool. Never tried it though.
