I just came back from a small road trip and I figured it is time to fix my car a bit. It is a 2002 honda civic. The mileage is at 21,900.

I am gonna do the regular oil change, I knw that for sure; but is there anything else? I changed the air filter once a long time ago, and the wheels were rotated once too(they are still stocked).

so how often do I need to do those things anyways.......

so for a fairly new car at 21,xxx miles, what should need to be done to maintain it?

lower it, put a big a55 wing on, tint the windows, add some racing stickers, a big can for an exhaust, maybe some neon lights, some nice 18" wheels...

oh, wait, that's what not to do.

Don't forget the 100,000 watt sound system!

At 21k miles, an oil change is all I'd do. And rotate the tires. You should rotate the tires every 5000 to 7500 miles. The newer honda engines don't need major tuneup for quite a while.

You only have to change the air filter like once a year or about every 12k miles, really. A newer filter doesn't filter as well as a slightly dirtier one, but a dirtier filter doesn't flow as well as a new one.

Get the brake fluid changed every two years.

^serious answer, at 21K miles, probably very little 'needs' to be done. Especially given what you already plan to do and what's been done.

From Honda Owner'sLink for 2002 Civic (my car). It's probably the same:

Services to be performed:
Replace engine oil.
Rotate tires.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Check parking brake adjustment.
Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks.
#Inspect exhaust system.
#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
# = See information on maintenance and emissions warranty, last column, page 199 in your owner's manual.

Basically rotate the tires and change the oil.

I'm honestly a bit irked that an owner of a car that is so new would be asking this.

Your Honda will probably run 120,000 miles if you NEVER lift the hood.

Blow it all off and go buy some beer, works for me.
