Camcorder with external input?

Any one know of a camcorder that you can plug an external video camera into? im looking at buying a video camera that mounts to the top of my bike helmet so i can capture the fun of downhilling!!

Most of them have inputs. The RCA/S-video jacks are usually bi-directional. You can set in the camera whether they're inputs or outputs.

i must have a cheap camcorder. it only has "s-video out". 🙁

im hoping to find one that i can upgrade to. i just got this one from circuit city. at the time we got this cam, i was not thinking about a helmet cam 🙂

i have read thru the entire manual and there is no mention of being able to do what i want. i have done a small amount of research already and even now am looking online to see whats avail.

Don't know what to tell you. Both camcords we have can do that. One of them is over 12 years old (tho far from being obsolete). The other is some Canon 8mm that was $400 maybe 6 years ago. Come to think of it, our old full-size VHS camera had inputs as well.

i'll box this up since its less than 30days and go talk to the CC doods. the 179.00 samsung is not going to cut the mustard. :disgust:

then again, maybe im just plain lost 😱

Can't you get MiniDV camcorders for around $500 these days? Check open box deals as well. CC has some killer ones sometimes.

Why don't you tell us the make and model of the camera, and perhaps someone can figure it out.

Samsung SCL810
its not a bad camera for the price. took excelent vids of christmas and new years

the only one i've used that had inputs was an ancient sony, but i'm sure people are still making camaras with inputs. head on down to circuit city or whereever and brave the evil salespeople to mess with a bunch and find out.

I checked out you manual, and there is indeed no way to input. Sorry about that. I was hoping that s-connector was bi-directional.

Oh well, time to get back to my udder thread. 😀

in order to get a camcorder with input, you need to step up from the base model.

for example, the Sony miniDV TRV19 does not have it, but the TRV22 and TRV33 do...this is one reason why I got the 22 over the 19...
