Camcorder to PC

I'm planning on video taping some things and I was wondering what all I would need in order to get it from a camcorder to my PC. A cord, hardware, software maybe? I plan to make a trip out to Circuit City or a comp hardware retailer later today to pick up what I might need, unless this is gonna cost oodles.

Any tips?
 
Analog or DV? If it is DV, a firewire port. If it is analog, you need a capture device. There are a lot of different ways to go there.
