Camcorder recommendations

I'm looking for a MiniDV (NO OTHER FORMATS ARE ACCEPTABLE) camera, no care as to make/model/size for $360 OR UNDER.

My criteria are:
- Image stabilization is a MUST. The higher quality this is, the better.
- Size is NO object whatsoever. Spending more for a smaller package is pointless in this case.
- Zoom power and quality are VERY important. This is because the camera will be used, most of the time, at long distances from the subject - exceeding 20-30 yards.
- On the flip side, there are also times when the same model camera will be used at distances of only 2-3 yards (or closer)
- Overall image quality matters a lot.
- Bad lighting operations will be common (indoors, outdoors in all sorts of weather, nighttime with field lighting)
- The camera in itself does not need to be weatherproof - other gear will be purchased to facilitate that

Thoughts?

If nightshot is important, get a Sony. If not, I really like our Canon.

I tend to lean towards Canon as well, but I'm looking more towards a recommendation on a specific stand-out model... Or is the market as stepped and segmented as it appears to be, with more money actually buying you more camera?

My first thought?
Sounds like the specification for a camera to be usd in stalking and home made pr0n. 😀

I'm kind of looking to get one too so I'll just sit silent here and listen in. 😉

Never discount the seeming inability of these newer camcorders to capture anything but fuzzy pics in normal evening lighting. Supposedly Sony's have better optics, but panasonics seem to out perform them, according to the reviews I've looked at.
