Camcorder driver issues.

First off, I have windows XP w/ SP2.

I am trying to connect a canon elura 100 camcorder via firewire. My driver issues in order thus far:

61883.sys hassled my computer manufacturer till they emailed it to me
avc.sys had to purchase
vfwwdm32.dll

Can anyone offer any help? Am I going to have to keep purchasing drivers? Is this a Canon issue or a SP2 issue?
 
I downloaded vfwwdm32.dll and reinstalled the camcorder. The installation proceeded and I thought I was finally gonna be able to use my camcorder but I then got an error message saying "Error during installation."

Anyone having a similar problem? I have searched the web and many seem to be having a similar problem, however, no one has posted how to resolve the problem...
