camaro SS vs NSX

Holy cow that SS was SLOW.

14.5?

My brothers LT1 T/A (265hp, as compared to the 325hp of the SS) ran a 13.5 stock (I know it was in the mid 13s).

That NSX is pretty quick though, I wonder what kind of mods it was using.

wow an american muscle car that is only good for straights, but performs like hell on an actual track!

Ya, 11.44 @ 122!!! That's very fast. The SS looks manual (slower vs. auto in 1/4 mile assuming no Michael Schumacher) and looks bone stock.

MD.

I'm just curious, why would anyone go to a track and "not even try"?

i dunno, sh!ts and giggles?

hell the things run 13.5 stock regularly

Actually, they're much better than you'd suspect. 0.91 skidpad. You should ACTUALLY drive one and try it out.

The driver just sucked hard. A 14.5 in an LS1 CamaroSS is pretty pathetic. I hear some good drivers can hit 12.9 stock, and they frequently run in the very very low 13s but an above average driver.

Agreed. I run 13.1-13.5 depending on gas and elevation in my stock SS.

The SS is slow probably because of heat and altitude. LVMS seems to be 2000 ft elevation and it's near death valley.

If you've ever been to a track, you don't wait for the announcer to call your group, wait in line behind a couple dozen cars and then give a pussy ass run next to an expensive car you have any hope of beating.

I think it was just a bad launch.. the Camaro was still trapping ~100, which should be ~mid 13's.

blah blah blah what was the point of this video? to show an obviously modded car beating one that is probably stock and having a bad run? oh boy, there's a challenge

yeah it was an awful launch by the camaro, but it kind of ridiculous to compare a camaro to an nsx anyway, especially one as fixed up as that one seems to be. Just two totally different cars with totally different amounts of money invested and totally different drivers.

You don't have to get all butt hurt just cause your precious camaro got burned.

who is the one that is butt-hurt here, you got all defensive up when i pointed out what was going on and that this video is a non-event. seriously, if i wanted to watch a canned race i'd turn on nascar, at least there's the chance of a huge wreck. i mean, am i really supposed to be impressed by an 11 second car? do you see me regularly posting threads about a 'precious camaro' killing some car? no. obviously, if someone here has a fetish over a car, it's outersquare

What's unknown is why the Camaro had a bad run. Bad launch, something mechanical the driver noticed, or just general poor skill level of the driver. Who knows, maybe on the next run the same driver in the same car ran that 13.5.. Drag strips are like that, and that's why you go for several runs at least.
