I don't know why that thread got me thinking, but is there a max caloric threshold to what your body can 'use' in a day? Here's an example:

Say your BMR is 1900 calores, and you consumed 6000-7000; mabye even more calories throughout the course of the day -I know that's not probable, but let's say you ate a dozen donuts ;).. so obviously, the majority of the calories would come from fat in this example. Anyway, besides the 1900 or so calories that you use to sustain your BMR, would your body abosorb all of those calories in some way, or just excreted after not being able to be absorbed by the small intestine? I know this probably depends on many factors - like the time span when the calories were consumed, so lets say like 10 hours.

I've considered similar things - like what percentage of calories are actually absorbed by the body. Certainly you're not 100% effecient and some calories are excreted. What percentage of calories eaten actually become usable?

And yeah, if you ate 10,000 calories in one day, is your body fast enough to store that much before you excrete it? How much weight can you gain in one day?

it would all just get absorbed.....but keep in mind actually being able to eat that much w/o puking is most likely improbable. Im sure you wouldnt be able to physically eat more than ur body could consume anyways

No answer for that, but I do notice that I can eat quite a bit MORE than I do typically without gaining weight, although I don't lose weight on my normal routine.

I have heard that 3 times your BMR is all that your body can store.

~6000 calories absorbed, everything else (especially fat) will be passed on through.

what about those people at eating competitions, like that japanese dude that can eat like 50 hot dogs, without puking them out. Thats gotta be a few thousand calories right there?

WRONG! I eat 7000+ calories/day. I also weigh 220lbs, run 65+miles/week, and lift a ton.
