CallWave: Any better/different alternatives?

I'm on dialup so my phone line is tied up when i'm on the net. Thinking of getting Callwave again but wondered if there are other alternatives to this. I used to use it when it was still free a while back.

My modem & my ISP support Modem-On-Hold but from what i gather it'll only let you know that there is an incoming call, unless i have caller ID, which is $8/month more.


Any other options?
